Hard Questions About EMT Life

                            …. Answered

I asked for the questions and I got them, in spades. I put the challenge out there; What’s the hardest question you’re willing to ask about the life and job of an EMT? As usual, I started out with high expectations and then was blown away by the awesome response.

In fact I got so many great questions I needed to divide this post into two parts. So here are my answers to some tough reader questions about the life and work of an EMT. Thanks for asking them.

I’ll post the second installment next time.

1. How do you deal with smells, blood, guts, disfigurement and dead bodies?@BrownCoatEMT via Twitter

I’ve never been real great with smells. I’ve come close to puking but never full-on hurled on a call. some people go so far as to carry Vick’s vapo-rub to put on their lip. They say it helps. Me, I just decide to bear it. Though there have been moments that if I’d had the Vick’s jar, I’d have used it.

I Need Your Help

This January, I’m going to be writing an E-book to help answer the single biggest question my readers seem to have. In e-mails, comments and online forums, the single most frequent question I run in to from readers at The Spot sounds something like this:

“Steve, next month I’m taking the E.M.T. national registry test and I need some advice on how to prepare.”

It’s a good question. And I have a fairly good answer. You see, I teach a special course four times each year that’s all about how to pass the national registry test. And my students have what I’d like to describe as, phenomenal results. So I have an idea what to put in this ebook. But I you can help me make it even better.

I’ve put together two quick surveys. If you meet the criteria for either of these surveys, it would be enourmously helpful if you’d take a moment and click through and fill out the question. I appreciate your help.

Survey #1: If you have taken the EMT National Registry test in the last year, please take a moment to complete this survey: Click Here For Survey

Survey #2: If you are planning on taking the EMT National Registry test in the next few years, please take a moment to complete this survey: Click Here For Survey

2009 Readers Survey Results

The Readers Have Spoken.

The results are in and I’d like to begin with a huge thank you. For everyone who took the time to click on the survey and answer the feedback questions I appreciate your time and your input. The feedback I got was generally positive and entirely helpful. I think everyone who took the time to do the survey genuinely wanted to help make the EMT Spot even better.

In total, 58 came by and completed the survey. There were three questions. The results were as follows.

Question 1) Which categories do you tend to enjoy reading?

The Summer 2009 Reader Survey

Blogging can be a lonely business. You sit in the glow of your monitor and type away at your latest creation. You hope that the posts you create are useful, entertaining and relevant to your audience. When you’re done you give it the once over and press publish.

I’m going to try something different. I’d like to ask you a favor. Take a minute to complete my very first reader survey. This isn’t one of those long, drawn out, demographic heavy surveys. No, “How did you hear about The EMT Spot?” Questions. I won’t even make you enter your name.

Three questions, two minutes, one heartfelt thank you. I look forward to your feedback.

To complete the survey please click here. (This will open a new window)
